Protection settings
Customize your protection settings to control what content is allowed and when. Apply these settings to your devices and networks by organizing them into protection groups with shared rules.
By default, the Default Group protection settings group is selected. You can create a new protection settings group by clicking the icon on the right side of the groups.
Click the
icon next to the icon with these options available:
- Rename group—Rename selected group. The Default group cannot be renamed.
- Pause protection—Pause protection for the selected group.
- Enable protection—Enables protection for the group where it was paused before.
- Delete group—Delete selected group. The Default group cannot be deleted.
The following configuration options are available:
Web Threat Filters
To edit the default protection settings (not recommended), click the radio button next to Custom and choose from the following options:
- Malware Filter—If enabled, websites containing malicious software, including its best-known forms such as Trojan horses, ransomware, viruses, worms and banking malware, will be blocked.
- Phishing Filter—If enabled, phishing websites that trick visitors into submitting sensitive personal information, such as login data or credit card numbers, will be blocked.
- Potentially Unwanted Content Filter—If enabled, websites with a reputation for promoting potentially unwanted applications or misleading users into performing actions that could negatively affect their system or browsing experience will be blocked.
Changes in settings should typically take effect immediately. However, for specific browsers, it may take a few minutes for them to be applied.
Blacklist
Blacklist enables you to block specific websites external to standard filters.
To add a website to your Blacklist, in the Blacklist section, click Add website, type in the website address and click Add website to Blacklist.
|
|
|
After you add a website to your Blacklist, the website blocking may be delayed by up to 24 hours if a DNS record for the added website contains a TTL (Time to Live) value. |
Whitelist
Whitelist enables you to allow access to specific websites blocked by other filters.
To add a website to your Whitelist, in the Whitelist section, click Add website, type in the website address and click Add website to Whitelist.
|
|
|
The Blacklist filter has a higher priority than the Whitelist. A website will be blocked if it is present in both lists. |
Web Content Settings
Secure Search—If enabled, the explicit content from the most popular search engines is hidden. Secure Search does not filter the explicit content by itself. It only forces the most popular search engines to use their search definition.
Click Advanced Settings, where when the Apply Filter Scheduler to Secure Search is selected, the filter scheduler for Secure Search is available, and you choose the time slots during which the Web content filter and Secure Search will be active.
