Web content filter

The web content filter allows you to create category-based filters for different ages. Only one age filter can be active on your service. Verify that the Web Content Filter toggle is enabled..

This feature is available based on your service provider configuration.

All age options have pre-defined settings you can customize according to your needs and preferences. Hover over the information icon Info to display the category details.

A category with a green icon Allow is allowed.

A category with a red icon Block is blocked.

A category with a blue icon Schedule is scheduled.

Important

Blocking the following categories on your home network device (router) may result in unexpected behavior:

  • Technology
  • News, portal & search
  • Miscellaneous
  • Not categorized
  • Anonymizers

Example

Network device behavior examples with these categories blocked:

  • Your IoT device (fridge, vacuum cleaner, etc.) uses a website from one of the categories above to communicate. A category is blocking communication from the IoT device; therefore, the device will not work.
  • You want to access the Google Play store. The News, portal & search category is blocked (Google is categorized as a search engine), meaning all connections to Google websites are blocked, and the Google Play store does not work.
  • After connecting to your home Wi-Fi, your Android phone may try to contact the Google website to check whether the internet connection is available or if an additional login is required. One of the categories blocks communication to the Google website; therefore, your mobile phone shows a notification to log in to your network.

Filter scheduler

The filter scheduler enables scheduled time slots when your protection filters are active. You can apply the Filter scheduler for Secure Search.

To enable the filter scheduler for Secure Search, select Apply Filter Scheduler to Secure Search and choose the time slots during which the Secure Search will be active.

To apply the Filter scheduler, select the category that should have scheduled time restrictions. You can choose between options allowed, blocked or scheduled by clicking the category.
